Volunteer

There are many ways that parents, grandparents and even students can volunteer throughout the year!

The Back to School Handbook
includes a section titled "Volunteer Opportunities" with a list of committees, fundraisers, programs and events as well as a description of how many volunteers are needed.

As you will see, the opportunities range from trimming/counting Box Tops, baking brownies, taking photographs for the yearbooks and chairpersons for events such as the Fashion Republic and Transportation Appreciation. Whether you give an hour of your time from your own home or are able to assist with an event at school, any and all help is welcome!

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Talent Show: Volunteers are needed to help organize performers backstage the nights of the rehearsals and shows (check them in, line them up in order). The night of the shows, volunteers are also needed to work the doors into the gym, to limit the flow of traffic. We also need people to hand out programs before the shows and distribute certificates to the performers at the end of the shows. If you have a child(ren) performing in the show, you would still be able to watch your children perform or you could consider helping with the other show. To volunteer, please contact Anita Mills at neets@comcast.net or 535-2112.

HTS School Store
: Volunteers are always needed for the HTS School Store to help kids shop. You can just show up during school store hours (10:45am-1:30pm). Moms, dads, grandparents welcome! Any questions, contact Nicole Olsen at nolsen0316@yahoo.com
or 478-0881.

Silver Graphics fundraiser: Volunteers are needed at HTS and PVS for the following tasks:
  • To help alphabetize the artwork by classroom (this will take place approximately February 27-28)
  • To help collect order forms/payments from HTS (one volunteer is needed for this task; this will take place from March 19-27)
  • To help sort through and distribute products when they arrive (approximately May 1)

To volunteer please contact Lin Millard at lgmillard@comcast.net or 417-3636.
Dr. Seuss Night: If you would like to volunteer for Dr. Seuss Night, please contact Kathy Deacon at kad83058@aol.com or 863-9986.

Basket Auction: If you would like to volunteer for the Basket Auction, please contact Kelly Urbaczewski (below).

Book Swap: Volunteers are needed for the following tasks:
  • To sort donated books into categories (picture books, chapter books, nonfiction, etc.) Sorting will take place at HTS on March 19 & 20 and at PVS on March 21 & 22. The amount of time it takes depends upon the number of donations we receive (approximately 3 hours). You can sort for as long as you are able.
  • To set out already sorted books by category. Setup will take place at both schools on March 23 in the afternoon. This should take 15-20 minutes.
  • To restock and straighten books during the Swap. One volunteer is needed at each school in the morning and again in the afternoon. This should take 15-20 minutes.
  • To pack up the remaining books after the Swap. Break down will take place at both schools on April 3. This should take less than an hour.

This volunteer opportunity is a small committment of time and the students really enjoy their "new" books! To volunteer, please contact Renee Rizzo at rizzomom1@msn.com or 478-0810.
